Haven Children’s Homes

Thailand, like many Asian countries have large numbers of people living in poor, overcrowded and unhealthy conditions.
War, ethnic and religious persecution, drugs, disease, epidemics, and natural disasters have left many children orphaned, homeless and without help. Many other children suffer from abuse at the hands of paedophiles, child sex and prostitution rings or are even used as slave labour in illegal sweat shops.

We are helping

Haven Children’s Homes have been established throughout Thailand and in several Asian countries to assist and care for these desperate and vulnerable children, with many hundreds now in our care.
Haven Children’s Homes provide the children with the opportunity for a normal childhood and a full and   quality life. All Haven Children benefit from a secure and safe community, medical and emotional support, quality education and a loving family environment. As the children complete their schooling years they are encouraged to pursue their dreams and are given further opportunities via Haven’s Trainee Programs. Here they can undertake further studies or apprenticeships including possibilities with overseas and International studies.

You too can help

The vital work of the Haven Children’s Homes is made possible by the generous support of caring people, donors and businesses from many nations. You can help to change the future for these and many other children by becoming a Haven Partner by donating monthly support to assist the work of Haven Children’s homes. Alternatively you can send a one-time gift to help the children.

We also invite you to become a volunteer Haven Fundraiser in your community and to assist us with making a difference to many children’s lives and happiness. For more information please contact us – This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Haven Success Stories

Pa-oh

Paoh

Following the death of his wife, Pa-oh’s father turned to heavy drug use as a way to numb the pain of hopelessness that he felt inside. He began to neglect his responsibilities of caring for Pa-oh and his younger sister. The children had to frequently find food and shelter wherever they could, at times resorting to sleeping in pig pens.

Someone from their village contacted Haven staff members hoping we could help the children. Haven gave them a family and a new start at life. From the moment that he came to Haven, Pa-oh knew that his life had taken a turn for the better and rarely stopped smiling. Although he was much older than the other children in his classes at school, Pa-oh overcame his feeling of embarrassment and shame and studied hard, achieving good grades.

Upon completion of his Junior High School Certificate, Pa-oh was offered a position in our Haven Traineeship Program. He is working on Haven projects alongside an experienced builder from Australia, readily mastering western and Thai building techniques.

Pa-oh had every reason to be bitter about life, but through the love and encouragement made possible by the partners of Haven Homes, his attitude and future is bright.

May

MMayay was abandoned by her mother after the effects of alcohol abuse and disease had claimed the life of May’s father. For a while May stayed with her grandmother, however due to her advancing age she was unable to continue caring for her. A local church pastor contacted Haven and asked for help. From the moment she arrived at Haven Girls home she soon began to embrace her new found family and life.

Due to her age, May only completed Grade 4 of primary school, but did not let her lack of formal education hold her back. From her arrival at Haven, she maintained a positive outlook and was extremely grateful for the chance of a new life. May was granted a scholarship to receive training as a hairdresser, going on to find employment and to win several awards.

May is now married and has opened a small but successful salon that provides employment for others. Through their contributions, our Haven Partners have enabled May to overcome rejection and find her place in the world as a self-motivated entrepreneur, not afraid to dream of making a better tomorrow for herself and others.  May continues to encourage and assist the children of Haven Children’s Homes.

Yui

YuiAfter the death of her father and being abandoned by her mother, Yui and her sister who was HIV positive and in deteriorating health, tried to care for each other. Soon, with her sister dying and unable to cope, Yui came to live at Haven Children’s Home. Traumatized, bitter, sad and rejected, Yui now found the love and security of a caring family that she so greatly craved.  Although the past years have not been without struggles, Yui is a young lady determined to succeed with a gentle and sweet personality and the testimony of what God will do in a person’s heart when one chooses to forgive and be forgiven in return.

Having completed the compulsory Year Nine High School Certificate with high academic scores, Yui went on to do a computer course that specialized in graphics and web page application as well as other topics, as a part of the Haven Project Traineeship Program. Yui now works as a full time staff member for the Haven Project in Thailand, doing work that she really enjoys. It can be difficult to get Yui away from the computer at times as she is so intent on her job.

Yui is passionate about the English language (her third language) and is excited about working with visiting International teams as a translator for The Haven Project in the near future.

Bebe

BebeBebe’s mother died when Bebe was two years old while giving birth to his younger brother, who unfortunately died shortly after birth.  Two years later his father died of an unknown illness, leaving a frightened four year old whose only family was an elderly Grandfather who was already looking after several orphaned and unwanted grandchildren.

Although Bebe’s grandfather tried for several years to care for his grandchildren, eventually age and poverty made it impossible to continue. Soon, Bebe and his two orphaned cousins came to live at Haven Children’s Homes where they have not only had their needs met but also been surrounded with the love and security of a caring family environment.

Having completed the compulsory Year Nine High School Certificate but unsure of what he wanted to do, Bebe decided to continue his education through the Haven Traineeship program.  Currently, Bebe works during the day for Christian Outreach Centre Foundation, as the Headquarters security Guard, and at night is completing his formal education. During his spare time and weekends Bebe is studying and participating in Pastoral Care and church ministry which is something he is passionate about for his future.
